Consultation Booking, Cancellation, and Scope Terms

1.  Appointment and Payment. Payment of the consultation fee is required to reserve an appointment. Your appointment is confirmed only when you receive confirmation from the firm. The consultation fee covers either the selected 45-minute telephone consultation or the selected 60-minute in-person consultation.

2.  Cancellation or Rescheduling with At Least 24 Hours’ Notice. If you cancel or request to reschedule at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time, you may elect either:

a.  a full refund of the consultation fee; or

b.  transfer of the full consultation fee to another available appointment.

3.  Late Cancellation, Late Rescheduling, or Missed Appointment. If you cancel or request to reschedule less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time, or if you miss the appointment, the firm will deduct a $50 cancellation charge from your payment, subject to the emergency waiver in Section 4. At your election, the remaining balance will be refunded or transferred to another available appointment. Any transferred balance must be applied toward the fee for the new appointment.

4.  Emergencies. If an emergency prevents you from attending, please contact the firm as soon as reasonably possible. The firm may waive the $50 cancellation charge after considering the circumstances.

5.  Cancellation by the Firm. If the firm cancels the appointment or determines that it cannot conduct the consultation, you may elect either a full refund or transfer of the full consultation fee to another available appointment. The firm’s inability to conduct a consultation does not imply any conclusion regarding the merits of your matter.

6.  Late Arrival. If you arrive late or are unavailable at the scheduled start time, the consultation will ordinarily end at its originally scheduled time and may therefore be shortened. A shortened consultation resulting from your late arrival or unavailability does not reduce the consultation fee.

7.  Limited Scope of Consultation. Payment covers only the scheduled consultation. Booking or paying for a consultation does not retain the firm for any investigation, filing, appearance, deadline monitoring, continuing advice, or other representation after the consultation. The firm will undertake further representation only through a separate written engagement agreement accepted by both you and the firm. Unless such an agreement is in effect, you remain responsible for protecting your rights and meeting all applicable deadlines.
